When we look at a gravestone, we see two dates separated by a simple dash. 

Small and often overlooked, that dash contains everything; the joys, sorrows, struggles, courage and love that made a life.

The Dash of Life is a powerful biography of displacement, resilience and legacy. It tells the story of a girl who fled persecution via the Kindertransport and a boy who escaped through the tunnels of Warsaw and how they rebuilt their lives in England. 

They fell in love and together, they created a home defined by warmth, kindness, generosity and the power of love. Arriving as immigrants carrying trauma and grief, they chose hope over bitterness and happiness over regret. 

It was a new beginning but with vastly different challenges.

It is a true story about the obstacles they faced after persecution and war, but how combining cultures from different backgrounds provided understanding, healing and joy. 

At a time when antisemitism, hatred and division are once again rising across the world, The Dash of Life offers an urgent and moving reminder that history lives not only in the past but in people today, and that every life deserves to be fulfilled and to be remembered.
